A local realtor wants to set up a way for people to give money for a downpayment on a home.  They say it's a way for people to plan for the future, instead of getting junk.

Are a lot of wedding presents junk?  I'd love to know what the worst wedding present you've ever received is, or perhaps....given.

That is hysterical.  Did they think you couldn't cook, and your frying might cause a fire? If so that is a rude thing to say to a bride on her wedding day.

I would take that more as "out of the frying pan and in to the fire". Guess the one who gave you this gift was right since your out!
