YES, ICE DAY'S ARE VERY CONCERNING TO ME.AND CHILDREN SHOULD NOT BE OUT ON THE ROAD'S OR ON SCHOOL BUSES, WHAT ABOUT THE SEAT BELT LAW? WHY DOESNT IT APPLY TO SCHOOL BUSES ? TICKET'S TO PARENT'S, BUT NOT A STRANGER TRANSPORTING OUR CHILDREN, YOU HAVE TO WONDER IF IT'S JUST A MONEY ISSUE.

FURTHERMORE, IF I FEEL IT'S TO DANGEROUS FOR MY CHILD, ILL MAKE THE CALL TO KEEP THE CHILD HOME WHETHER THERE'S SCHOOL OR NOT, GLAD TO HEAR ANOTHER PERSON CONCERNED.

I agree that it is dangerous to send our kids to school with this kind of weather and i think that if more parents complained or even went so far as to keeping our kids safe at home that maybe the schools will realize that it is not worth risking their lives for a day of learning!!

Seat belt laws do not apply to school buses because in the case of an accident, or some other vehicle emergency, there is usually just 1 adult to get 30 or more kids out of seat belts and then out of the vehicle. This would take far too much time in an emergency situation.

In our school district, if the weather is of a grave concern, we have the option to keep our kids home. While there are laws saying you MUST send your kids to school regularly, I don't think any school administrator is going to fault you for keeping your kids home, given the circumstances. Especially if you must drive them yourself.

If kids are sitting properly in their seats, they are pretty well protected in most collisions. The seat backs act as a barrier and somewhat compatmentalize them. I agree that it would be pretty unsafe for the kids if they were buckled in and say there was a fire or some other emergency (like when the bridge collapsed in Minneapolis) and the kids need to be gotten out in a hurry. If they are unable to unbuckle the seatbelt, it would make it more difficult in a rescue situation.
