Cheetos Sustain Woman to be 100 Years Old!

                                                                              MMM! Cheetos MMM!

At the end of Thursday nights broadcast (20 Nov 2008) I found it interesting that a woman who turned 100 years old eats bag(s) of Cheetos. During her birthday party at work her coworkers bought her several bags and stacked them on her lap. Any nutritionist would likely say that Cheetos aren't what's keeping her alive but, if the sports guy Darren didn't mention that this snack could be a reason for this woman's suspended human existence I wouldn't be posting here.

Apparently she eats them so often that at her job she gets cheesy residue all over the papers she edits. I want to know, what exactly are the life sustaining benefits of Cheetos? The taste of crunchy and cheesy, an unbeatable combo I know. My only guess is Cheetos are a kid's snack, kids have a lot of life ahead of them, eat Cheetos as an adult have a lot of life ahead of you?

Anyone remember when a little girl wrote a letter to Frito-Lay some time ago about a certain orange cheetah not wearing a helmet when riding a bike? Peep the source, he's wearing a helmet now.

Wow.  You must have nothing better to do at 3 in the morning.

I looked it as not the nutritional value of the Cheetos that kept her alive so long and obviously that was not the only thing that she ate.  I saw it as the 'joy' or satifaction of eating her favorite snack made her feel good and perhaps kept her going.  People in the US do not just eat to stay alive.  The eat because it make them feel good.  If we ate to just live, then obesity would not be a problem because no one would be over weight and we would only eat for need not for pleasure.

There are a lot more people turning 100 years old these days.  Doing a news story on plain jane turning 100 is not interesting to most.  But add in a funny or twist or something unusual and that makes the sorry.

And if you are worried about what that message is sending to our kids, than the parents need to talk to them and explain the facts about nutrition and not rely on news stories or TV to raise them.  We need to take responsibility to train our kids on how to live.  Quit being so dang critical of everything.
