I was in a restaurant having lunch with a friend this week and they had made a mistake in preparing my food.  It was perfectly edible, but has a salsa that is a bit to spicey for my taste so I asked them to make mine without.  I was horrified to find out that when I returned my meal - untouched - they threw it in the trash!  Why aren't these meals being donated to the local homeless shelters?  There is no excuse for throwing perfectly good prepared meals in the trash.

Think of the logistics of what you are asking: Upon return of your meal, the restaurant would have to package it, store it in cooler until later, then pay an employee to deliver it to the shelter. Oh yeah, I forgot, supply vehicle for employee to drive to deliver food. All this for one or two 'meals'.  And I am totally ignoring the possibility that the shelter may not be interested in this sort of delivery.

They throw it away because you're too selfish to do your job and come pick it up and deliver it to the homeless shelters. Where were you when they were forced to throw the food away?

Seriously though, what kind of question is this? If it bothers you, get off your ass and do something, don't just sit there and complain that "someone" should be out doing this or that. What are YOU doing?
