Register to Vote: Your Vote Could Speak for 23 Others

Are you a registered voter?  Are you planning to vote in the upcoming election?

Historically, not many do.  In some of the smaller towns, school board and water district races are won and lost by just one vote.  In larger communities, although many people are registered to vote many do not exercise that right -- a small percentage of the people steer the local communites with their votes.  For example, in one of the last local school board elections, only 4% of the registered voters cast ballots.  With only one out of every 24 registered voters voting, it is that much more important that you cast your ballot.

Registering to vote is easy.  Here's a link to the form you need: www.sos.state.or.us/elections/votereg/sel500.pdf

The last day to register to vote in the May 15th Special Election is April 24.  You can print off your form, and take it to the Lane County Elections Office at 275 W. 10th in Eugene.  If you mail it, make sure it will be at the elections office before April 24th.  The mailing address is: Lane County Elections Office, 275 W. 10th Avenue, Eugene, Oregon 97401

In our county, and in Eugene and Springfield especially, your vote really does count!  Please make your voice heard during the next election!
