who do. However, not everyone who smokes has respect for people who
don't smoke and don't want to breathe any. My problem is with the
people who tend to be of lower socioeconomic levels and generally
uneducated, who smoke. These people seem to enjoy blowing smoke in joggers and
runners faces on the street. Its happened to me twice in Springfield.
The first encounter there were two overweight women, and I was running on the
sidewalk with the direction of traffic when I stepped down to the bike
lane to run by these two heifers. As I passed by, one of them sucked
smoke into her mouth and blew it in my face. The most recent time
happened today Saturday night 21 March 2009. An overweight cow was
smoking and her bearded ZZ Top boyfriend maybe in his mid to late 20s,
dressed like he obtains his clothes from a second hand Hot Topic store
dumpster, blew smoke in my face. What is gained from this? I stepped
down into the bike lane both times to avoid crossing paths. Has this ever happened to anyone out there?
What did you do? Does anyone have a legal way to handle this type of
situation? I just want to be able to take care of myself without being
disrespected.

For about 3 yrs I have been a grant instructor in that program and have seen how well the program works for the kids. It helps kids with homework and reading but they also do athletic type stuff, and they also learn new things from arts and crafts to photography to science projects. But it not only helps and encourages kids, we the grant instructors learn something from the kids....joy of weeing we have touched their lives in a positive way.

I know we dont want more taxes, but if it benefits a child isnt it worth it? Doesnt every child deserve to be able to have every chance to succeed? Without this Afterschool program where are the kids going to go? What about the families that is helps; the parents can work longer hours at work to help their family, kids get to be active instead of sitting down in front of the tv or out doing something they shouldnt.

Also the program supports the community because of the jobs it creates.

I may live in Eugene, but I take 3 buses to get to work everyday because the program is worth it!

Please Vote yes on measure 20-138 For the kids

Go to www.willamalane.org and read more about it.

They wedged a stick in between the gas pedle and the seat to keep it going. They werent in it but they planned to make it go into the river, but missed and it went through the wall of Agnes Stewart Middle School. What is going on in their heads?? They are apparently high school drop outs. I used to be friends with the young boys that did it. I could tell by looking at them they werent going 2 have a good life.
In 1977 I DID move out here.....and good as my word....have always lived in Springfield. Was always rather proud of the town, considering. But these last 10 years or so....I've found that I'm actually embarrassed of the place.

It's not the regular Springfielders that are screwing this town up. It's the people making up all the obnoxious, invasive ordinances.

One of the best neighbors I ever had was functionally run out of town by ordinances. He was a handyman and would commit the horrendous crime of repairing broken appliances and mowers and selling them. The City about had puppies. He couldn't afford to NOT sell his wares.

Every neighbor I have now (including myself) on the west side of my property has been harrassed by Springfield for one petty infraction after another. It all springs from having that ONE GUY who delights in making life hard for everybody else around him and makes complaints for any conceiveable infraction. These guys LOVE these invasive ordinances. And Springfield LOVES to use these people as an excuse to issue tickets and mail threatening letters.

Then there's just the ridiculous building ordinances. Like needing a permit to replace an existing fence. When I built the addition on, I discovered the City doing just about everything they could to needlessly run up costs to build pointless and counter productive things. I suspect a Springfield ordinance is behind these store parking lots that are so filled with cement obstacles, trees, weeds and planters that there isn't the needed room to park your $#@&*& car. I almost got run down in such a lot, because my visibility was blocked by all the shrubbery. There is no reason for this!

If I ever sell the place I'm currently in - you can bet that I won't rebuy in this City I love. The City council has ruined this town. As best as I can tell, they aren't thru ruining it yet.
