Team Smiley Cascade’s 4th annual Dinner & Auction --- A benefit for The American Cancer Society Eugene/Springfield Relay for Life

Dine on a wonderful dinner catered by Chef Kelly Stroda and Matthew Mann. Dinner music by some of Eugene’s finest, Halie Loren and Matt Treder providing a wonderful mix of jazz music for your enjoyment.

Roller Derby Fashion Show at Sam Bonds Club 5/16 - PHOTOS

The local Eugene women's roller derby team the Flat Track Furies had their 2nd Annual fundraiser fashion show at Sam Bonds on Saturday, May 16th. Numerous Roller Derby inspired fashions were shown off, and offered for sale for any Roller Derby fans that would like to dress up like their heroes.

Several star players from the Emerald City Roller Girls modeled the fashions. In addition, a few skaters from the new Sick Town Derby Dames in Corvallis also modeled.

Sam Bonds was packed for the show, and the crowd went wild with applause at the end:

Roller Skating Exhibition!

Roller Skating Exhibition and Papa's Pizza fundraiser. Monday, March 16th from 5-6:30pm, Springfield Skate World - 3188 Gateway Loop. Come see the kids perform their new skate routines for the community and then swing by Coburg Rd. Papa's on the way home to enjoy their wonderful pizza and support the kids at the same time. 50% of all proceeds go to the team! Our skaters compete regionally and nationally and have three big competitions this year! See ya' there!

One can tell a lot about a man by examining his personal library, I've always heard. So it might be an idea to have a place where we can post the books we have read, so others can understand ( in a limited way, certainly) where the contributors are coming from.

I've tried, over the years, to keep a computer file on my reading material. Well, I haven't listed the periodicals, but about 90% of the books I've gone thru. I still own most of those books and probably none of the periodicals.

The Smith Family book store has been a God-Send for me.

Reading a book certainly doesn't make us an authority on a subject, (and it may have been read a looooooonnggg time ago) but it does give us a base of understanding. Much of my stuff pertains to Philosophy in one way or another. But I have never attended a class in Philosophy in my life.
