I smelled some skunk activity just last night around my house. It must have just gotten warm enough for them to start roaming around. We've had an outside cat that lives on our porch for the last 15 years. He won't come inside but is never more then 10 feet from the front door. We've had problems with possums and raccoons in the past.

Our best solution so far has just been feeding in the morning and maybe a small amount before dark. If there's no compelling reason to enter your cats territory then noone is going to fight with her. I think cats are happier when they can pick the fights with something smaller and more edible then they are.

We keep an outside cat. Over the years we have been troubled with swarms of starlings running off with her food. Then of course there were the Possums. She'd let the starlings rob her blind but was always willing to scrap with the possums. (Go figure.)

Then, the possums seemed to go away and we enjoyed the vacation. But soon found they would be replaced by Raccoons. She was as willing to scrap with the Coons even more than the possums. This always worried me cause if a Coon ever got a good purchase on her, she'd be a goner for sure.

But now I've been seeing an alarming trend. The most undesirable cat food thief going has been turning up as road kill quite regularly of late. Yes....I fear we are about to start getting visits from.............SKUNKS! If this little girl of ours wants to fight with a skunk or 2, things are going to get most unpleasant around here.

So I'm wondering, what have you been seeing wandering around your neighborhood? Have you been getting raided by these Black&White bombers?
