Valley River Center : The next Bankruptcy ???

    http://money.cnn.com/2009/04/16/news/companies/general_growth_bankruptcy.reut/index.htm

When Sports Authority and Macys blow out of Valley River Center it will be a ghost town. Maybe High Priestess Tattoo's can open a shop there and KMTR can report it as the Top Story.

Actually the Tattoo shops would probably do pretty well over there, their "clienttelle" fits right in.

Are you really claiming to know how I "feel" Woody ? And believe it or not, I do have a point. Which is I am trying to increase awareness that the general population (which you are obviously a part of), is being manipulated by the retail establishment into thinking that buying and accumulating "things" (From Valley River Center) is a source of happiness...

Well Woody, I have news for you, The joke is on them !! American Consumerism is over !!! Americans are broke and the corporate retail industry is hobbling on three legs. Perhaps now we can stop sending 25 billion dollars to China via Walmart, Macy's and Gottschalks and use our money here at home. You are so clueless, what are you going to do when you cannot get shoes, undwerwear, toilet seats (the list is too long to write) from China ?

You may have a 'point', Clueless, but it was not even hinted at in your original post - which is what Woody replied to. Your second post, flaming Woody up one side and down the other, was totally uncalled for.

Re: Valley River Center : The next Bankruptcy ???

My husband and I were passing through Macy's last weekend on our way out when we spotted a shirt that my husband liked and I simply adored because it really brought out the blue in his eyes when he held it up to himself.  Then we looked at the price tag:  $150.00!  I don't think Macy's has noticed that we're in a rather financial crisis in this country at the moment.  We laughed, mentioned that I could by "roughly" 15 shirts just like the one I was wearing for that outrageous $150.00 and moved on.
My daughter and I were at Valley River last month.... she was seeking employment at various locations in the mall when we thought we'd give Macy's a shot.  5 different sales people looked right through us.  We could not get even one of them to acknowledge our existence.  Even if I had the extra money to shop at Macy's, I would refuse to simply on principal.  Besides.. I'd rather be happy in my Ross/Value Villiage or any other discount store comfies and "looked down upon" than to be accepted into the kind of snobbery that thrives at Valley River.

This is rather off topic, but you mentioned Macy's and it just sparked my memories of a couple of negative experiences.  I would rather have hand-me-downs that shop at the shops in the mall.  They aren't consumer friendly and in these difficult times for the American public as a whole, they don't even make sense.  Its no wonder so many are going under.  To charge $150.00 for a basic button up shirt that would cost a few dollars to make is robbery.  Karma is a true ***.

clueless, I guess i don't get the point. I dont shop either of the three shop's you mentioned for my undies, shoes, or toilet seat,s. your post said if Macy;s and the Sport's store closed it would be a ghost town, not for me as I dont shop there, and i think during these hard times less people probably are,as far as High priestess and clientele that was a low budget statement. Do you know all of the people and what walk's of life they come from that go to High priestess? pictures of thier children, there Mothers, or wifes, husbands name,I'm sorry unless i missed something which is more than possible, i dont undestand your post, we'll all die without Macy's and the sport's store, but your warning us about being manipulated by retail and sending all our money to china by shopping these stores, clueless is your title on here, however i really dont have a clue what your meaning in your post
