    sex predator who was released

I saw the bulletin about the sex predator who was released from Lane County penal institution and released with parole, however he ran away and is out in the public somewhere.

I feel that IF the media would include important data such as height, weight, scars, tattoos, birthdate and birth place, it might make it easier for the public to watch out for him and other’s who have walked away from our “negligently" underfunded law enforcement system of Lane County.

Also, a simple tracking device might be helpful before they ever leave the cover of law.  An embedded chip that triggers road cams and ATM's would be very useful.

Thanks, A Viewer with an Attitude

So, you are seriously advocating that the Government start embedding chips in people? Once you start doing that, where will you stop?

The original poster was not talking about embedding the whole of society with chips.  I think that if someone is a sex predator, whether their prey is men, women or children, they should have the majority of their rights taken away.  If they don’t want “big brother” watching their every move, then don’t rape others, which is taking away their personal rights and having an effect on the remainder of their lives.  If you or a loved one had been raped or molested, wouldn’t you have been thankful if it had been prevented by that rapist having had less freedom?  Does his/her “right” to freedom outweigh your or your loved ones right not to be sexually assaulted?  I have no empathy for those that continually break our laws and complain about their “rights.”  The people they victimize have rights that have been violated.  If they are willing to take away the rights of others for their own pleasure, then they should have their rights taken away for the safety of  the rest of society.

KMTR should have provided more data

Thank you “outonalimb”, my sentiments exactly.  I did not want to get into a big brother argument with redcity. I feel the public does not get enough information from the media when it comes to identification of those bad people.  Rather than simply give a name and old photograph KMTR should have provided data, and I would hope in the future they do think about providing identifying information.

Predators do not stop their predatory actions.  They can be working with children or vulnerable adults right this very second.

Attaching tracking devices to career criminals before leaving the criminal justice system seems only proper.

There is not much difference between a tracking bracelet, checking in with a parole officer and an embedded chip, except the degree of monitoring and the ease of evading the monitor.

Eugene, Oregon Sex Predator Rickey Alan Robbins

Rickey Robbins was featured on America’s Most Wanted television show on Saturday April 4, 2009, and he is listed on America’s Most Wanted website.  AMW said that he may have shaved his facial hair or wear it differently than when his prison photo was taken.

Serial Sex Offender Loose Once Again
For more than 20 years, authorities say Rickey Allen Robbins has been a threat to public safety, and now investigators say he's a wanted man once again.
In 1983, Robbins entered the home of an Oregon woman and raped her.  The victim was able to escape, shoot Robbins, and ultimately help law enforcement put him behind bars.  Cops say Robbins was arrested, and paroled in 2007, but he absconded from supervision.
From Oregon, authorities say Robbins fled to New York, where he broke into another woman's home and touched her while she slept.
When the woman awoke, Robbins fled but left behind a hat, which cops ultimately traced back to him. However, police soon received another report from the same area: this time, cops say Robbins entered another woman's home, held her down, apologized and fled.
Robbins was arrested a short time later in a New Orleans university library. He had been watching child pornography.
Investigators say Robbins was extradited back to Oregon where he served time for the probation violation.  On Dec. 10, 2008, Robbins was released and sent to a local Eugene, Ore. homeless mission.
But just two days later, Robbins' parole officer hadn't seen the 58-year-old and a warrant was issued again for his arrest.
If you have any information on the whereabouts of Rickey Allen Robbins, call our hotline at 1-800-CRIME-TV.”
If he were properly supervised on probation we would know where he was.
