    Pit Bulls

No, absolutely not....banning a breed is a horrible and ignorant idea. People should take a look at the owner of the dog before interacting with any dog.
I have an American Pit Bull Terrier and an American Staffordshire Terrier. Both are types of Pit Bulls and very smart and loving. I have been around pit bulls for more than 10 years
The only dog bite stories that ever make the news are pit bull stories, for some reason the other ones just are not as news worthy as a pit bull. Why is that? According the numbers the amount of Pit bull related incidents compared to other various breeds is far lower, but you never hear about the other attacks or maims. I guess the other ones just are not as news worthy.
As per kmtr's news report from last night, there was a small town that did ban Pit Bulls and the number of dog attacks did not significantly lower. Furthermore in one town the dog attacks actually went up.
I recommend that those who wish to ban a breed do some research into the subject. Most people I know when asked about dog bites generally think of those little dogs (polmeranians, jack russell terriers, wiener dogs etc).
The only difference is biting strength. Does that mean german shepards , Akida's, Doberman Pinchers, Lab's etc are next....
Let's remember what dogs are..they are animals. So the next time you are gonna judge a dog on its actions remember it is an animal and environment, treatment and conditions are gonna determine how a dog will react to any given situation not just the breed....
Maybe if we re- name the American Pitt Bull Terrier to American Terrier ...people can stop the hype
