Thought I'd start a little thread for those of us who try the Local4Less coupons.
I just picked up my first Local4Less a few daze ago down at the station. (It's in Gateway country; across the highway). Got the Empire Buffet and 2 for NoHo's. (Will be a little while before I turn them in, because the NoHo's are an Anniversary gift and if I take the wife to Empire before the Anniversary she'll want to know why I didn't get anything from NoHo's.)
There's a limit of 1 per customer on Empire - no limit for NoHo's.
Was kind of surprised that the 2fers came as paper coupons. Suppose the resturant will write the new value on the coupon when it's used. But kind of figured Local4Less would use plastic gift cards. But this works for me.
Getting the coupons is a small issue. Shipping is not included in the price so there's like a $3 added charge to get them sent to you. So if you use the mail it would certainly be an idea to get all the coupons you'll need all at once. But since the station is so close to Gateway mall, it might be an idea to buy your Local4Less before your next trip there and just pick them up at the station for free....like I did. (Course, you would need to do this during the hours you can access the station) Perhaps someday, a guy would be able to pick up his coupons at Bi-Marts or Rite-Aids or something.
Ok....folks....let's confab on our Local4Less experiances.

Resturant Report - Empire Chinese Buffet
Well, the little woman was outta town today, and I was looking around for a way to forage for myself. Out comes the Empire coupon!
Empire is in the old Lyons building on Franklin, and is a fairly new establishment. The grounds are kept up nicely and I had no trouble finding a place to park (though, admittedly I got there around 2pm).
If I were to compare Empire with any other local place it would be China Sun. It is buffet style and has a wide assortment of stuff. Some fairly exotic. There's a Sushi bar next to the buffet tables and they make this chewy, doughy, sesame seed ball thingy that I absolutely fell in love with. They also make a cocktail weenie/wrapped in bacon on a toothpick that's hard to stay away from.
They don't have quite the selection of China Sun, but it's good - and at Empire there is no danger of getting tangled up with that Harlow Road Round-about.
With drink, the bill came to about $8.24. So with the Local4Less, that's $4.12 out-of-pocket. They just write the next value on the coupon. But to my surprise, Empire photocopyed my coupon before writing the new value. Never saw that before. Fine by me, though. If Empire didn't limit their coupons one to a customer, I'd get some more of them babies.
All in all, I certainly can recommend Empire. This is really great food. Though in fairness, in the Eugene/Springfield area they need to have outstanding food at a Chinese place to survive. There's LOTS of great Chinese around here. But Empire clearly has that. At least TRY the place on Local4Less. You may well find yourself going down there for full price. I probably will.

Resturant Report - NoHo's
The little woman treated me to dinner with her NoHo's coupon tonight.
We decided to get a large Steak and Rib combo and split it. This comes with a macaroni salad stuff and sticky rice. This is really good food. Even the macaroni salad was exceptional. The meat was so good, I couldn't bear to put Teriaki sauce on it. From what I tasted tonight, I can easily recommend this food.
Delightfully and unexpectedly enough, the place was roomy with maybe only 10 other customers present. So it might not be too surprising that the service was perfect....but my experiance has been, if you have poor wait people you will get poor service even if you are in during slow periods. But like I said, service was just right.
Parking? The parking situation could be better. There IS a Diamond parking lot right next to The Beer Stein, which is right next to NoHo's. But we are talking about the University area here, so parking there could be problematic 9 to 5 and expensive. After 5pm a guy can park there for free so NoHo's shouldn't have parking issues for dinner, anyhoo. And if you work in the area or go to the U of O, you are in easy walking distance.

Marie Calenders on Local for Less now!
Haven't been there in a month of sundays. It's a little out of my usual paths, anymore, but the food always used to be good. I'm gunna try to get one for there.
But when I tried to get another Local for Less into my grocery cart, (Grocery Outlet) I kept getting a runtime error. Will wait till I can get both these ordered, at the same time, so I can grab both in one trip down to the station. So......please KMTR....get that Outlet link up and Bunny hopping. You are keeping me out of Calenders till you do.

Stopped by and grabbed my Grocery Outlet coupons today. Look out, Outlet, here I come!
What businesses would everyone be interested in having on Local 4 Less?
The more the merryer I always say!
I would really fancy some from ....oh....Joey's Pizza/Alberstons/Bi-Mart/Golden Orient/Rose&Thistle/Gi Joes/Walmart/Kowloon/S&M Gun Shoppe/Burger King/DariQueen/Auto Pros (Goodyear)/Fred Meyer/Pour House/VRC & Gateway/Olive Garden/Roadhouse/Outback/.....hmmmm.....just about everywhere would be good!

Resturant Report - FAR MAN
This report is putting the cart before the horse, I'm afraid. Looks like FAR MAN is sold out in the Local4Less coupons, as I write. But I scored 2 of these before this happened (as opposed to M. Calenders) *insert Evil Chuckle here*
The way these old coupons worked, $10 bought you a $20 coupon. But the thing with Far Man is that you must surrender the coupon, in it's entirety, when you use it. Read - "Spend the whole $20 at once". Don't try to use it to get a 3 lunches for yourself on three different daze.
Used to go to Far Man decades ago. They had high quality food back then. Surprisingly, they still have this! Food quality is just as I remembered it. Nothing wrong with my order or my wifes. Service was quite acceptable, considering how many patrons were in evidence.
Parking? Like NoHo's, this can be a little bit of an issue. It would seem that Far Mans food quality is not a secret. When we were there (dinner hours) all the parking spaces around the establishment were taken. We had to kinda park out in Tim-Buck-Too and scamper to the door, in the rain. But twixt NoHo's and Far Man, methinks NoHo's has the bigger problem, in this way. Going anywhere near peak hours and both businesses will probably have lots of customers.
But, as I said, if you don't already have your Far Man coupons ; you are sure-outta-luck, for this batch at least. If they reissue them, the terms may be different so be sure to check this out before you buy.
I still have one coupon and am saving it for a future occasion. It would expire 8/31/2008 , but that ain't gunna happen.

Yunno what? I have reason to believe that them Marie Calenders coupons came up again. I seen it promo'ed on TV on a Local 4 Less spot.
Yowza! I'm gunna order one or two, methought.
But things came up and I didn't get right to ordering. Went and ordered some other Local 4 Less last night and guess what? Yup You got it right.....no Marie Calenders!
I'm starting to wonder if some Millionare out there isn't snapping up them babies as soon as they hit the Net.
(Moral of the story - If you want Calenders....you'd best get with the program!)

TIME FOR A CONFESSION....
After the Marie Calenders difficulties, I'm not always going to be quick-on-the-draw to do reports on some L4L's.
Grocery Outlet is one of these.
This is just like printing money. Grocery Outlet has long been one of the best places to spend your grocery dollar. Admittedly, you can't always count on finding what you need there....but when you do - the price is often MORE than right! Have long made it a practice to shop Grocery Outlet first, then going elsewhere to pick up the items G.O. didn't have.
With these L4Ls you could buy a $10 coupon for $5....and as many as you want. Can only use one coupon per visit but, in my case, most of my quick visits are for only $5 to $15 anyway. Can't beat this deal with a stick. And now I see there are only 10 availible....and I already have a stash. So I can safely point this out.
