We are reporting tonight on the battle between Sea Lions and Salmon tonight.  The Bonneville Dam has a problem with Sea Lions eating the salmon.  So the Federal Government has given the go ahead to kill up to 85 Sea Lions a year. 

One issue is that the Sea Lion is protected as an endangered species.  Then again so are the salmon, which the Sea Lions are devouring thousands of by coming up the river.

We would like to know what you think about the decision to kill aggressive, and repeat offender sea lions at the Bonneville Dam.

Unfortunate, but neccessary. Of course, the real question is : Is this a man-made problem? Are we responsible for the 'easy pickings'? If not, we should just 'butt out'.

They are protecting nature from nature, so of course that explains everything.... expains the silly government hypocrites at work.

The Marine Mammals Protection act set us up for this long ago.  Responsible management of seals ,being prohibited, has spawned innumeral problems since it's passage.

Government solutions to Government generated problems are are a study in waste and ignorance.

Sea lions belong in the ocean,not 100 miles up a fresh water river killing salmon because it is easier pray there than in the ocean. Shoot the aggressive ones and trap,mark,remove the rest and if they come back kill them! All fisherman have rules to protect salmon and Sea lions should not be allowed to kill the salmon so easy up river,let them work for their dinner.

Kill the sea lions period!

One solution comes from and old “Star trek” episode. The sea lions eat the salmon because it tastes good. Make some “farm raised” salmon taste bad by attaching, either internally or externally, something that will make the sea lions sick. There would be some sea creature that has a natural defense alkaloid that could be used. Keep the “spoiled milk” tasting fish around long enough and the sea lions will leave.
