    Clearwire & Quest DSL

I'm looking at maybe getting some better ISP than dial-up.

Anyone have opinions on Clearwire or Quest DSL?  Am especially interested in experiances from the Thurston area, but any info would be appreciated.

I like Comcast they have the best speeds, but after the trial period can be a bit pricey.  If you aren't doing video games or downloading large files, DSL and Clearwire are great.

We use Clearwire at our church and it is great as long as they have a strong signal at your house.  They are even willing to come out and test for free.

    Generally I don't like DSL because I don't have a home phone.

Bader, Well finaly something I can seak from ...Qwest DSL has differnt speeds, if you are goign from dial up..you will see a huge difference even at the lower speed, Clearwire only has one speed that is eaqual to the lower of qwest, but you are not connected to the phone line, but from a cost standpoint I would say that qwest is the best for the dollar..and as Buzz said the best aside from  T1 line is comast..at a cost $62.95 a month..little on the spendy side and the cable is sometimes not that easy to deal with..but it is like puting John Force against Jeff Gordon..but anything is a far improvment over dial up..so what ever you decide will be nice..it is mre of a issue of what you want to spend.

Hey Buzz; I didn't know that Clearwire would come out to check signal strength.  That's good stuff to know if I start getting serious about them.  Thanx for the heads-up.

Howdy Sunoocoo, thanx for weighing in.  Didn't know that Clearwire roughly equated to Qwests lower speeds.  Sounds like you prefer DSL.  Do you know how far you have been from the DSL terminal when you were using it?  I've read that DSL is only good within.....like 6 miles from the hub.  Being out in Thurston country makes me think I might be outta good DSL range.  Dunno.

Well, we jumped onto the Quest train, at long last.  Today's the first real day.

Got the basic modem in the mail then scampered down to Nortec where they sold me a wireless router for the laptop.  Had to do a little head scratching to put it all together....but it's fired up and working now.

Don't have a lot of experiance yet to report about, but so far, everything is just champion.  Some stuff loads so fast compared to my old dial-up that it's laughable.  Barring future technical difficulties, think we're gunna like this!  BeerPizzaParty!!!
