    High Ammo Prices

Twixt that war in the Middle East and China driving up the scrap price of raw metal; ammo prices have gone thru the roof  lately.

Maybe we should share info on where/how to get ammo locally for the best price.  Reloading is, of course, a preferred method, but that requires a significant inital outlay many cannot afford.

The info I might share is to point out that Federal has a rebate going for it's grey box - "Power-Shok" centerfire rifle ammo.  It runs till the end of the year.  Limit 2 boxes.  $5 a box.  You will need an application slip, but these have been availible down at G.I.Joes (they may be at other locations as well).

    Good luck and happy blasting....Smile

Try Cascade Ammo Sales out of Roseburg, they will drop ship ammo straight to your door.
As far as saving money with reloading you might as well forget that, each round is cheaper, but you end up shooting so much more it eats up the savings pretty quick, I load between 3000 to 5000 rounds a year, never buying less than a thousand primers, cases or bullets at a time. It costs some to get started, but there's no better winter hobby. And not to mention the satisfaction of putting five rounds into a dime sized hole at 100 yards with a load that you worked up and loaded. Other places you might try are Midway Shooting Supply, or Cabela's, both have bulk rates that are real close to what you could expect from reloading, good luck in your quest.

Ah Yes, I load myself.  And have a fair enough stock pile of componants that this price thing isn't hitting me too hard.  But one always has to chase after bits and pieces.

But there's pleny of folk out there who only shoot factory.  And things are sure getting ugly for them out there.

I DIDN'T realize that Cascade Ammo was in Roseburg though.  That bit of info you had may help some folk.  They probably don't sell right from the shop, do they?

I think they do walk in's, it's a mil surplus, camping, firearms, sporting goods store. I haven't bought anything but bulk brass from them, but on their web site they carry about anything one would need for the outdoors.
