Prez Primaries - Who you rootin' for?

That big Federal election is coming up.  So much rides on who the dominant parties will nominate to run for the highest office in the land.  Wonder who folks are rooting for?

I've long felt that the real chance America has for a good chief executive lay in the Republican Nomination.  Real world - this is the only place we realistically can hope for a true statesman to begin to assume the Presidency.  Most of us will admit that the poor 3rd party candidates don't stand much of a chance in America in the dawn of the 21st century.  The Democrats, on the other hand, would refuse to Nominate a good man ....even if one ran for it.

The Republican party CAN nominate a good candidate.  The current state of American politics still tolerates it there.  But this is certainly not a sure thing.  So the real fight for a good President happens in the Republican nomination.

This year, to me, there is one steller candidate.  He's a long shot unfourtunately.  This is because he is, in his heart, a Constitutionalist, but is now working thru the Repub party.  He believes in the Constitution and won't endorse legislation he believes that document prohibits the government from passing.  He's an uneasy fit in the party; but this year, after all the ill will generated by the Bush administration....a Dark Horse/Maverick republican may be just the ticket.

I root, Ladies and Gentlemen, for Ron Paul.

An ascendant man, living in a degenerate age, MUST, by definition, live in contradistinction to his times.

Ron Paul here....Wink Google his voting record, and his beliefs... He is a true Republican that holds views compatable to everyone that still holds to individual rights and freedoms, because, he believes in our Constitution and Bill of Rights..... Which NONE of the others do, they are all Globalists, and to them, all rights belong to the big corporations and the wealthy elitists...

I don't think a Republican candidate has a snowballs chance --and, if GW is the best the party has to offer these days, that's a relief.

I can't help but feel like the two major political parties have learned to scrub all of the intellectual horsepower and character out of the process in favor of vapid, pandering dummies. There were fine men on both sides before the last primary, but when the dust settled we had to choose between Kerry and Bush, the two "C" students with family money and questionable backgrounds. At that point a "win" was no longer posssible.

Probably Ron Paul, as he is the least worst in the bunch.

It's a shame that the Republican party has long been hijacked by big government, anti-bill of rights neo-cons and that the brainless, Fox News-watching, neo-right-wing masses simply nod at whatever rhetoric their particular benevolent leader says.  Ahem!

Ron Paul will face a lot of criticism from "his" team if he wins the nomination.
It would most certainly be a coup.

Re: Prez Primaries - Who you rootin' for?

It is a tough call between Clinton and Obama. Since Hillary is basically stating that Obama is qualified to be President (by offering him the Vice President position) I think Obama is probably the best choice.

I have been reading different postings in the Politics catagory, and I find it difficult to believe the poor quality information that I hear.

Number one the Democratic Party has many more Registered Voters than the Republican's so how does that equate to a dying party? The Democratic Party is the progressive party. It is the party of the future. By far the folks who register for the first time, will pick Democrat over Republican. Of course there are many who just choose Independent, but if they compare their values to which party most closely represents their values, most would fall into the Democratic Party. Myself included. I started off as a Republican, and often voted a mixed ticket. Then when I started doing more research, and more analysis, I changed to a Democrat, and I have never looked back. I no longer vote a mixed ticket, but complete Democratic ticket. In my life I feel that I have always done much better when Democrats were in power.

Here is a link with some facts about the current numbers of registered Dems to Repubs.

Also, I swear by the saying "A working poor man voting for a Republican is like a chicken voting for the Colonel".
