What's with all of the popup's on your site.

When I come into the KMTR site Firefox blocks on an average of 13 popup windows. While I realize that TV, radio, and the press make their money from running ads this is getting a bit out of hand.

I admit pop ups can be annoying, but they have become another part of the internet.  Sites like KMTR.com remain free thanks to our advertisers support.

That being said, if popups are so annoying that you won't visit a site anymore, there are ways around them.  You mentioned one way with the Firefox pop up blocker.  It sounds like you found a personal solution.

Thank you for letting us know about your concern though.  We will definitely keep it in mind as we continue to grow our areas best local news website.

Strange, I've never had even one popup on visiting here.

Re: What's with all of the popup's on your site.

I noticed that I get one single "pop-under" once for each day I get on-line.

Today, for example, the pop-under was:

     http://b.casalemedia.com/V2/62428/130828/index.html?www.kmtr.com/

With the "KMTR" at the end, I was sure of the source.

While not convenient , since I have to close the window later, it won't stop me from coming to the site. I'd rather have someone else fund you site than you charge a fee for access.  :-)

You can run ads without pop-ups.  It's a lot more "user friendly" if you will.

Re: What's with all of the popup's on your site.

Actually I took the time to look and see what they were today. It is the same popup for Netflix from b.castlemedia.com that keeps trying to open..... 11 times.

Not only are pop ups annoying they are a security risk for the user as they are a great source for spy ware when unsuspecting users click on the wrong ones.

I'll let it go at that.
