LOL, don't bring my dad into this. :) Here's a political opinion for you: I feel very sorry for Obama, and black voters in general. (This is assuming that black voters want a black President) (Which would be racist on their part, but seems nonetheless to be true.)
If Obama LOSES this election, that blows the best chance of ever electing a black President that will likely ever exist. Why? First, because the Republican Candidate looks good ONLY because Obama is so lame - if the Democrats had the sense to Nominate a Mainstream candidate (black or white or other), they would win in a landslide. The other reason why this is likely the only/best chance of electing a black person President is the," I want to vote for a black guy because I'm so open-minded" people. This is also known as the "Affirmative Action Vote". This only happens once, tho - If another black candidate runs, he/she will have to win on their merits.
If Obama WINS this election: (I'll skip the part about him being totally unqualified, since Dems will just argue the point). If he wins: He has NO national presence- he's only been a Senator for a few years - which means (on a National scale) that he has no buddies, no posse, no list of people that owe him favors, and being relatively 'green' to National politics he will have no real idea of what to do IF he gets elected. Which means he will have to depend totally on the Democrat leaders to lead him around. And let's talk effectiveness: Of course all the Republicans will vote against all of his programs, cause he's a Democrat. But do you think that 'Southern Democrat' Congressmen will be on his side? Not so much. And if he wins, it will be about a 50/50 vote, of his fifty percent only half support his programs/ideas, (Obama DOES have ideas, doesn't he? ) The other half are just voting against Bush - which means they will not like Obama's programs any more the Republicans are likely to. All this doesn't paint a very good picture of the "first black President", and the problem is that, as the first, he will be an Example of a Black President. And this will reflect on any other, potential, black presidents.
Like I said: I feel sorry for Obama. Win or Lose.
