badgerrr:I have long marveled (and been distressed) at how quickly Media is able to get people to alter their vocabulary. The political manipulation of language is a powerful tool and most everybody seems to give into it.
How do, you confront this problem of Politically manipulated speech? (Or do you?)
Easy now for the worst thing one can be called today is a Bigot, if your for legal immigration and against border hopping and say so your labeled a bigot. If you say anything against the people standing on the street corners with their hands out, instead of taking on some of the jobs that the illegal aliens are doing, you’re a bigot. If you believe that the Pursuit of happiness, means that you have the RIGHT to make your life the best that it can be and not that some government agency is going to hand it to you, well, you’re a bigot. Why do people from all over the world want to come to America? Because they know that they have the best chance of changing not just their lives but the lives of their descendants, and if they would play by the rules and get in line I say that we should help as many as we can. The system isn't broke, it will work, and can work as it has in the past, but saying so just might label one a bigot. At least from the P. C. crowd that is.
By the way, I'm not real good at dealing with it either.
