Helmsley at the OHS Doggie Dash 2008

This Saturday Helmsley is bringing Brent to the Oregon Humane Societies Doggie Dash 2008. He's going to bring his waggy-tailed friends, Lacey, Ryder, Miesha, Sgt. Pepper, and Rigby for the Doggie Dash. The entire team will be decked out in stars and stripes attire.

The event takes place up in Portland at the Tom McCall Waterfront Park. You can join Team Weatherdog at the event, or just sponsor Helmsley and raise money for the Humane Society by clicking here.

Where in the World is Flat Matt?

You may have seen on the Today show, where Matt Lauer travels around the world in a segment, they call, "Where in the World is Matt Lauer". We are having some fun with that concept, and asking you to take pictures with a paper version of Matt, we lovingly refer to as "Flat Matt".

It's real easy, just follow these easy steps.
1)Print out this .pdf file of Flat Matt.
2) Take a picture of Flat Matt in your neighborhood, with you on vacation, in your home, ect.
3) Upload your picture to the Where in the World is Flat Matt section of Your Corner Photos.
4) Watch NewsSource Today on KMTR NewsSource 16 to see if your Flat Matt makes it on the air.

Animator Wanted

We are currently working on a project that needs an animator. Someone that knows CGI, or possibly Flash. We are able to trade a $100 gas card, and a stay at the Riverhouse in Bend in exchange for the animation. The project is less than thirty seconds in length.

Video Comments Now Live

About a month ago we launched site comments, where anyone could leave text messages to any of our text stories. Well today we are proud to announce video comments.

To leave a video comment first click on any KMTR TEXT story. At the bottom of the story there is a link for "Add a Comment". This takes you to the Post a comment page, that if you have left a news comment you have seen before, only now there is a box that says "Record a Video Comment". If you click on this page it takes you to the Record a Video Comment page.

We posted the first video comment here, so you can see how it works .

In order to record your video comment:

The recorder may ask you for permission to access your webcam and microphone. Please click Allow.
Be sure your webcam and microphone are connected to your computer.
Position your webcam and microphone so that you can see yourself in the recorder and the microphone is close enough to pick up your voice.
Click the "REC" button to begin recording.
When finished, click the "STOP" button to stop the recording.
Play back your recording using the "PLAY" button to make sure you are happy with it.
You may need to adjust the microphone (the slider by the microphone icon) to better record your voice. The other slider adjusts the volume on your own computer for playback and does not affect the recording.
When you are satisfied with your recording, enter a title in the "Video Comment Title" textbox and click the "Submit Video Comment" button only once.
All video comments must be moderated, so your comment will not appear on the comments page immediately.

March Madness

It's tournament time! The Ducks are in at a 9 Seed and will play on Friday at 4:25pm against Mississippi St. Anyone going to Little Rock? If so take some pictures and upload them to the Your Corner Photos, for those of us who cannot make it.

Also we have the College Hoops Challenge. One Grand Prize winner will receive a 20" Flat Screen Monitor (LG Flatron). Courtesy of Comcast (total estimated value of $299.99).
