Olympic Trails Day Two:
After day one and a good debriefing overnight, day two ran like a well oiled machine. The volunteers also had one day under their belts and were more confident at their jobs. My basket crew worked efficiently with little effort on the part of my wife and I. Part of the volunteer core is a large group of high school athletes who are part of a leadership came put on by the U of O. They have a full schedule of lectures and classroom in the early morning then volunteering the rest of the day. We are fortunate that one of their jobs is to help the basket crew. Our four teams of eight are made up of four experience local crew members and four kid from the camp. These kids are a big help and catch on quickly. I didn't get a chance to get out into the festival today since we didn't get any big breaks today. As I was going in and out it seemed like a good crowd and everyone was having fun. There seems to be plenty of room so even though there are a lot of people there you don't feel crowded. This event has a lot left and it's something worth taking part in even if for a few hours. There were lot's of kids there having a good time again today. Day three starts with the decathlon at 10:00 am. The individual events start with the 100m mens semifinals at 2:30 pm. I'm getting to bed earlier tonight I was dragging at the end of the day today.
